Revisions for SBIRT for Health and Behaviorial Health Professionals 

This information applies only to versions of the course “SBIRT for Health and Behavioral Health Professionals” that state in the course description that they offer 3 hours, rather than 4.0 hours, of CE credit.

The revised course incorporates oral health effects of substance use and the relevance of SBIRT for a variety of disciplines, adding a page with links to video demonstrations featuring a variety of health professionals. We also added opioid misuse content and link to a new patient education handout on prescription opioids and heroin, given the utility of SBIRT in addressing this. We added additional examples of motivational interviewing skills using video clips. We also streamlined several areas to shorten parts and decrease narration, without making significant changes to the essential content. This streamlining resulted in a course length of 3 hours rather than the previous 4.0 hours.
